Blackwell Public Schools has selected two outstanding teachers as its nominees for the 2022-2023 Oklahoma Medal for Excellence in Teaching, a statewide teaching award sponsored by the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence.
As district nominees, Candi Holt, a secondary Title I English Language Arts instructor at Blackwell Middle School and Mindy Tripp, a fourth grade teacher at Blackwell Elementary, will receive $500 grants from the Blackwell Public School Foundation.
This award is sponsored by the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence, which is a non-profit, charitable organization created in October 1985, to recognize and encourage academic excellence in the teaching profession and to build greater statewide unity and encourage support and improvement of Oklahoma’s education system. It exists solely to improve the quality of education through increased public awareness of its importance to the future of Oklahoma.
One of the leading programs of the Foundation is the recognition of teachers from both the secondary and elementary levels.
The District Teacher of the Year will be voted on at the end of February and have an opportunity to compete at the state level, where the winning recipient will receive an award of five-thousand dollar together with a glass sculpture designed specifically for this honor.
These teachers have been characterized as being exceptionally skillful and dedicated classroom teachers, having knowledge of their students and demonstrating vigorous, creative, and imaginative teaching. It has been stated that recipients for the Blackwell Schools play an active and useful role in their communities as well as their schools.
Secondary Teacher of the Year is Candi Holt, Title I English Language Arts Teacher at Blackwell Middle School.
The Elementary Teacher of the Year is Mindy Tripp, fourth grade teacher at Blackwell Elementary.
Congratulations to both well deserved candidates.
